Hi, I'm Doug Hanks, Application Development Manager at Progress Rail Services.

My name is Doug Hanks, Since 1995 I have developed a variety of business solutions in different business areas including customer service, corporate compliance, accounting and finance, and logistics and manufacturing as well as some industry specific domains. I have accomplished this primarily utilizing current web and database technologies like PHP, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, Oracle, and MySql. I also have experience in the following areas: OOP, Ajax, Unix shell and text parsing tools, Perl, C, Continuous Integration, and Unit Testing. My core competency is the development of the back end business logic and database design. I feel that the business knowledge I have gained is as much or more of an asset than my technical abilities when it comes to implementing business processes in an application or bigger system. In addition to application development, I have experience and capabilities in the area of data analysis where large amounts of raw data need to be summarized or analyzed to prove or disprove assumptions and identify issues or anomalies.
